On January 25, 2018, Robinhood announced a waitlist for commission-free cryptocurrency trading. At the end of the first day the waitlist had grown to more than 1,250,000. Robin began offering trading of Bitcoin and Etheruem to users in California, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Monday in February 2018. In May 2019, Robin announced that it received the BitLicense and a money transmitter license to operate in New York, whereas in October 2019, the company announced it had launched in another eight more states - Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Vermont.
To date, Robinhood Crypto is now available in 46 states and Washington D.C, and plans to continue its expansion further.
