Hi we’re HyperLedger!

Hyperledger is an umbrella project of open source blockchains and related tools, started in December 2015 by the Linux Foundation and supported by big industry players like IBM, Intel, and SAP to support the collaborative development of blockchain-based distributed ledgers. Hyperledger Eco-System is large in terms of projects and industries targeted. Currently, there are 5 active projects, 4 in Alpha & Beta stage and 6 in development. In this eco-system, Hyperledger Fabric is matured in terms of releases, implementation, documentation, community support & enterprise adoption compared to other frameworks (which are in development). Hyperledger Fabric is a permission blockchain infrastructure, originally contributed by IBM and Digital Asset, providing a modular architecture with a delineation of roles between the nodes in the infrastructure, execution of Smart Contracts (called “chaincode” in Fabric) and configurable consensus and membership services.

Technology: The “umbrella strategy” of Hyperledger incubates and promotes a range of business blockchain technologies, framework, libraries, interfaces, and application. Currently, Hyperledger is the host of a big range of DLT technologies with specific use cases. Hyperledger Fabric for payments, Hyperledger Sawtooth for building decentralized applications, Hyperledger Indy for Identitty & Reputation, and so fourth. Consensus mechanism used among Hyperledger projects are, PoW, Proof-of-Authority (PoA), BFT, IBFT, RBF, BFT Tendermint, Sumeragi BFT and Proof-of-Elapse-Time (PoET)

To date, the Hyperledger Consortium consists of over 250+ members.
